Local media say two airport ground staff fell into the sea and later died after an Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 747 arriving from Dubai skidded off Hong Kong International Airport’s runway, hit a vehicle on the north runway, and landed in the water around 03:50. Airport officials insist correct instructions were given, there is no indication Runway 07L’s exit signs were off, and the route was “not a normal one.” They added a patrol car was outside the runway fence and this was not a runway intrusion. Investigations continue, with a criminal probe not ruled out.
