Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire in Doha after more than a week of deadly border clashes that defied earlier truces, Qatar’s foreign ministry said. Mediated by Qatar and Turkey, the deal commits both sides to halt attacks and avoid targeting security forces, civilians, and infrastructure; Kabul also pledged not to back groups striking Pakistan. The announcement followed Taliban accusations of new Pakistani airstrikes, which Islamabad denies, saying it hit militant camps. Amid the fighting, eight people, including three Afghan cricketers, were killed in Paktika, prompting Afghanistan to withdraw from a planned T20I tournament.
