Washington — President Trump said Venezuelan officials offered the U.S. a large stake in the country’s oil, gold and other resources to halt American actions, adding that Nicolás Maduro had "offered everything." At a White House meeting with his Cabinet and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mr. Trump also said he authorized CIA covert operations in Venezuela—an unusually public confirmation—and cited prisons and drugs as his reasons. The administration says recent anti-trafficking strikes off Venezuela killed more than two dozen. U.S. forces and warships have built up in the Caribbean.
