Max Scherzer, 41, delivered a throwback gem in his 500th major league start, and Andrés Giménez homered and drove in four as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Seattle Mariners 8-2 to even the American League Championship Series at 2-2. Scherzer allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings, becoming the oldest postseason starter since Jamie Moyer in 2008. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smashed his fifth homer of this postseason as Toronto continued its surge in Seattle, outscoring the Mariners 21-6 there after dropping the first two at home. Game 5 is Friday: Kevin Gausman vs. Bryce Miller.
