Britain’s King Charles III and Pope Leo XIV will pray together in the Sistine Chapel on Oct. 23, an ecumenical service rooted in care of God’s creation and the first time since the Reformation that the two churches’ leaders pray together, officials said. The two-day Oct. 22–23 visit, postponed after Pope Francis’ final illness, will also see Charles named “Royal Confrater” at St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, with a dedicated chair for him and his heirs. With Archbishop-designate Sarah Mullally not yet installed, the Archbishop of York will preside alongside Leo; royal and Sistine choirs will sing.
