New York GOP suspends state Young Republicans chapter over 'vile' group chat messages

New York Republican officials voted Friday to suspend the state Young Republicans after a Politico report exposed racist and antisemitic messages in a multi-state leaders’ group chat, which NBC News has not independently verified. Chair Ed Cox called the chapter mismanaged and the language vile. Named participants Peter Giunta and Bobby Walker apologized while suggesting some messages were manipulated; Joe Maligno has not commented. The separate New York Young Republican Club denied affiliation. Elected Republicans condemned the chat, while Kansas Republicans disbanded their Young Republicans. Vice President JD Vance defended the youths’ behavior.
