Poland’s Warsaw District Court on Friday refused Germany’s request to extradite a Ukrainian suspected in the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline sabotage and ordered his immediate release, citing scant evidence and lack of German jurisdiction in international waters. Judge Dariusz Lubowski called the alleged act a “military operation” and “not illegal,” saying responsibility would rest with Ukraine if it authorized it. The decision may be appealed.
