Man living in Louisiana connected to Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel, U.S. says

Federal prosecutors in Louisiana say Mahmoud Amin Ya'qub al-Muhtadi, 33, helped coordinate armed fighters during Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack, then entered the U.S. on a fraudulent visa, according to newly unsealed filings. The documents allege he was part of the National Resistance Brigades, told men to bring rifles, sought ammunition and a vest, and had a phone ping near Kibbutz Kfar Aza that morning. He entered through Dallas-Fort Worth in September 2024, later lived in Tulsa and Lafayette, and worked at a restaurant. He’s charged with material support and visa fraud and is jailed after an initial court appearance.
