John Bolton, Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, surrendered Friday after a federal grand jury indicted him on mishandling classified information. He arrived at the Greenbelt, Maryland courthouse just after 8:30 a.m. for an initial appearance. The indictment charges eight counts of transmitting national defense information and 10 counts of unlawful retention, alleging he used personal email or a messaging app to send Top Secret material and kept sensitive documents at home. Bolton called the case politically motivated; his lawyer said the charges involve unclassified personal diaries. The Justice Department has also charged James Comey and Letitia James.
