The European Commission unveiled its Defense Readiness Roadmap, aiming by 2030 to deter adversaries amid a persistent threat from Russia. Ursula von der Leyen said Europe must protect every citizen and every square centimeter. The plan launches four flagship efforts—the European Drone Defense Initiative, Eastern Flank Watch, European Air Shield, and European Space Shield—led by member states with Commission support and coordination with NATO; Ukraine is ready to support members.
