Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein Finds New Life | JQJO

Guillermo del Toro's long-envisioned Frankenstein reframes Mary Shelley's tale through his signature obsessions: beauty in darkness, corrupted innocence, and a bruising parent-child bond. Told from Victor Frankenstein's (Oscar Isaac) and his creation's (Jacob Elordi) perspectives, the film follows an egomaniac scientist bankrolled by arms dealer Harlander (Christoph Waltz) and the tragic fallout after his stitched giant awakens. Mia Goth's Elizabeth offers rare compassion amid abandonment and rage. With stunning sets, meticulous costumes, and haunting dream imagery, the classic feels newly alive. Frankenstein opens in select theaters October 17 and streams on Netflix November 7.
