DNC Chair backs Mamdani as endorsements split | JQJO

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin urged New Yorkers to vote for mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, reiterating a prior endorsement and praising his affordability message. The encouragement comes as some national Democrats have withheld endorsements, even as Gov. Kathy Hochul and Kamala Harris have offered support. Martin has acknowledged disagreements with Mamdani while arguing for a broad party coalition. Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, defeated Andrew Cuomo in June; Cuomo now runs as an independent but trails in polling. Republicans have attacked Mamdani, with President Donald Trump threatening funding cuts; Mamdani rejects the “communist” label.
