Quaker, a 15-year-old black horse from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, has been retired to The Horse Trust in rural Buckinghamshire after injuries from last April’s escape through the streets of London. Spooked by the noise of construction rubble falling through a chute on April 24, 2024, the five horses bolted during a morning exercise; Quaker suffered a broken bone and serious bleeding. “Quaker wasn’t able to return to duties,” Maj. Thomas Stewart said, citing ongoing veterinary care and a welfare-based decision. The Ministry of Defense said he is the only one of the five not to resume duty.
