A preliminary study presented at the ECNP Congress suggests an EEG could flag who is prone to antidepressant‑related sexual problems. Using the LDAEP biomarker, researchers found lower measures predicted orgasmic dysfunction after eight weeks of escitalopram with 87% accuracy in 90 unmedicated adults (average age 27, mostly female). The noninvasive, 30‑minute test might help clinicians choose treatments and avoid side effects that affect an estimated 25%–80% of users. Experts welcomed the idea but noted limits: it’s an abstract, LDAEP isn’t a direct serotonin measure, and larger replications—ideally placebo‑controlled—are needed; a 600‑participant study is underway.
