Supporters rally as videos roil Porter campaign | JQJO

Katie Porter’s campaign for California governor absorbed a bruising week as viral clips showed a tense TV exchange—where she threatened to walk out—and a 2021 video of her berating a staffer. After condemnation from rivals and mockery, supporters closed ranks: Teamsters leaders, EMILYs List’s Jessica Mackler and Whoopi Goldberg praised her toughness. Porter’s team said the CBS interview continued after tempers cooled, and she said she has sought to show more gratitude to staff. With the primary not until June and the general in November 2026, Sen. Alex Padilla is weighing a run.
