At the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Qatari Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced a finalized accord enabling the Qatari Emiri Air Force to build a facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. The site will host Qatari F‑15s and pilots for combined training with U.S. soldiers; Singapore also trains there. Hegseth called it a step to boost lethality and interoperability. The move follows President Trump’s executive order assuring Qatar’s security after Israel’s strike in Doha. Hegseth said Qatar played a “substantial” role in the Israel‑Hamas peace deal.
