Bird Flu Surges Amidst Migrations, Officials Brace | JQJO

Bird flu, after a quiet summer, is resurging due to wild bird migrations, leading to early spikes in poultry infections and significant culling. Officials in states like Minnesota and Iowa are bracing for a challenging autumn, as the virus appears increasingly endemic in wild birds. While the current human health risk remains low, experts express concern about potential future human transmission and the impact of reduced mRNA research funding on vaccine development. Dairy cows have also been affected, with limited human infections and one fatality reported.
