A volunteer security guard, Ivor Rosenberg, 78, confronted the man who later attacked worshippers at a Manchester synagogue. Rosenberg stated that if the attacker, identified as Jihad Al-Shamie, had possessed a gun, he would have been killed. Rosenberg and other volunteers held the synagogue doors shut from the inside as Al-Shamie attempted to gain entry, ultimately preventing a larger tragedy. The attack, which involved a car ramming and stabbing, resulted in two deaths and several injuries, prompting fears for the safety of the Jewish community.
