OpenAI's invite-only Sora video app is a viral sensation, achieving 56,000 downloads on its first day and climbing to No. 3 overall on the U.S. App Store. Despite initial limitations to U.S. and Canadian users, Sora's launch performance rivals that of other major AI apps like Grok, while still trailing behind ChatGPT and Gemini. This strong debut highlights consumer interest in AI-powered video tools for social experiences, even as OpenAI navigates its core mission.
