Russell M. Nelson, the oldest-ever president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has died at age 101. Nelson, a former heart surgeon, led the church since 2018, implementing significant changes including urging the use of the full church name and altering policies regarding LGBTQ+ individuals. His tenure also saw the church sever ties with the Boy Scouts of America and face scrutiny over its handling of abuse reports. Dallin H. Oaks is expected to succeed him.
