Two Somali women have died attempting to cross the English Channel overnight off the coast of northern France. Approximately 100 people departed in a makeshift boat, with 60 rescued and receiving care. Several others, including a family with a child, were hospitalized for hypothermia. This incident tragically adds to the at least 25 deaths this year during dangerous Channel crossings, as migrant activity and UK government pressure remain high.
