The New York City medical examiner confirmed that Shane Tamura, the Manhattan office shooter who killed four people and himself, had low-stage Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Tamura, a former high school football player, suspected he had CTE and requested his brain be studied due to his mental health issues and anger towards the NFL for concealing concussion risks. The degenerative brain disease is linked to repeated head trauma, commonly found in football players.
