Andrzej Bargiel of Poland has achieved a historic first: skiing down Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. He reached the summit on Monday and skied down to Camp 2, spending a night before reaching base camp the next day. Previous Everest ski descents utilized oxygen. Bargiel's accomplishment, described as a groundbreaking milestone in ski mountaineering, follows his successful ski descent of K2 in 2018. The challenging descent included a 16-hour wait above 8,000 meters due to heavy snowfall.
