Argentine paleontologists unearthed a new predatory dinosaur species, *Joaquinraptor casali*, a megaraptoran theropod. The well-preserved fossils, including a crocodile bone in its jaws, suggest it was an apex predator in Patagonia during the late Cretaceous period (66-70 million years ago). About 23 feet long and weighing over 2,200 pounds, the nearly adult specimen provides crucial insights into this relatively poorly understood dinosaur group, which went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous.
