Ben & Jerry's co-founder Jerry Greenfield resigned, citing a suppression of the company's social activism under parent company Unilever. Greenfield, in an open letter, stated that Ben & Jerry's independence, a key factor in the 2000 Unilever acquisition, had been lost. He lamented the silencing of the brand's outspoken stance on human rights, particularly concerning Palestine. This follows lawsuits alleging Unilever's interference with Ben & Jerry's political activism. Greenfield plans to continue his social justice advocacy independently. Unilever's ice cream division, generating €8.3 billion in revenue in 2024, is currently undergoing restructuring.
