Greek authorities announced the recovery of artifacts from the wreck of the HMHS Britannic, sister ship to the Titanic. An 11-member team, led by British historian Simon Mills, retrieved items including the ship's bell, navigation lamp, and cabin equipment in May. The artifacts, recovered using air bags and cleaned of marine organisms, are undergoing conservation in Athens. They will eventually be displayed at the National Museum of Underwater Antiquities in Piraeus in a WWI section. The Britannic, a hospital ship, sank in 1916 after striking a mine, resulting in 30 deaths.
