Chloé Zhao's "Hamnet" won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), a prize often seen as a predictor of the Oscars. Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" and Rian Johnson's "Wake Up Dead Man" were runners-up. Park Chan-wook's "No Other Choice" received the International People's Choice Award. The festival also awarded prizes in documentary and short film categories. "Hamnet," set for release in November, is considered a major Oscar contender.
