Russian drones over Poland: NATO response as it happened through the night

NATO issued its highest alert last Tuesday night after Russian drones penetrated 250 kilometers into NATO airspace over Poland, marking the alliance's most serious security incident in decades. Over two dozen drones, some targeting a key NATO logistics hub, triggered a yellow alert at 9:06 PM, escalating to red four minutes after the first drone breached NATO territory. NATO interceptors, including German Patriot systems and Polish F-16s, were deployed. A Dutch F-35 shot down the first drone around 1:13 AM, with the last threat neutralized by 4:44 AM. NATO officials believe the incursion was deliberate, prompting Poland to invoke Article 4 of the NATO treaty.
