The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is fining Boeing $3.1 million for safety violations, including a mid-flight door panel loss on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 in January 2024. The FAA cited hundreds of quality system violations at Boeing's and subcontractor Spirit AeroSystems' factories. The violations included a Boeing employee pressuring an inspector to approve a non-compliant aircraft. Boeing has 30 days to respond, and while acknowledging the incident and ongoing safety improvements, they are reviewing the penalty.
