Dobrev's Vampire Diaries Pay Battle | JQJO

Nina Dobrev, star of The Vampire Diaries, reveals she was underpaid compared to her male co-stars, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, for the show's first two seasons despite playing multiple characters. Dobrev's contract only covered her main role, Elena Gilbert, but her portrayal of Katherine Pierce significantly increased her workload. While she eventually received a raise, she never achieved pay equity. Her return for the finale involved another pay battle, with Dobrev insisting on equal pay before agreeing to appear.
