Sixty-seven shipping containers fell overboard from the Mississippi, a Portuguese-flagged vessel, at the Port of Long Beach on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Terminal G while the ship was berthed. No injuries were reported, but port operations were temporarily suspended. A Coast Guard investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, which damaged a nearby barge. A 500-yard safety zone has been established. The incident occurred just days after the port received an award.
