A total lunar eclipse, also known as a 'blood moon', will occur on September 7-8. Visible across Asia, parts of Australia, and eastern Europe, the eclipse will feature several phases: penumbral (11:28 a.m. EDT), umbral (12:27 p.m. EDT), totality (1:30 p.m. EDT lasting 82 minutes), and the subsequent retreat of the shadow. The event is safely viewable with the naked eye or binoculars. Those outside the viewing area can watch free livestreams.
