A new image from the Gemini Observatory reveals the growing tail of comet 3I/ATLAS, an interstellar object traversing our solar system. Captured during a public outreach event, the image shows a significantly extended coma and tail, indicating increased activity as the comet nears the sun. This is only the third interstellar object observed, posing no threat to Earth. Scientists are studying its spectrum to understand its composition and evolution. The comet's closest approach to the sun is expected in late October, remaining visible through September before disappearing near the sun and reappearing in December.
