Job opening data falls to levels rarely seen since pandemic

Job openings in the US dropped to 7.18 million in July, the lowest since September 2024 and a level rarely seen since the Covid-19 pandemic. This data, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, fuels concerns about a cooling labor market. The number is only the second time it's fallen below 7.2 million since late 2020, suggesting a significant shift in the job market's strength.
