The northern lights (aurora borealis) might be visible in parts of New York and 18 other states, plus Canada, late Monday into Tuesday. New York City's view will be limited, but areas north and west, including Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster counties, have a better chance. The best viewing time is after 10 p.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday, from an open area with a clear horizon. While a similar spectacular display occurred last October, this viewing may be less intense.
