Wisconsin boater stumbles on long-lost shipwreck in Lake Michigan

A 138-year-old shipwreck, the Frank D. Barker, has been discovered in shallow waters of Door County. The well-preserved wooden canaller, built in 1867, transported grain and coal on the Great Lakes. After unsuccessful salvage attempts in 1887-88, it remained lost until recently rediscovered by diver, Kevin Olson. Maritime archaeologists confirmed its identity using historical records and diving missions. The discovery is significant, offering a glimpse into Great Lakes maritime history and providing an exciting experience for Olson and his family.
