Northern lights may be visible in 18 US states tonight

A geomagnetic storm is expected to bring the Northern Lights to 18 US states on Monday. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts auroras will be visible, especially just after sunset or before sunrise. Even those outside the main viewing area might see them under the right conditions. The lights are caused by solar material and magnetic field eruptions hitting Earth's atmosphere. While visibility depends on clear skies and darkness, even if not visible to the naked eye, they may be captured by cameras.
