Reporters Without Borders demands Israel halt attacks on journalists : NPR

Over 250 news outlets are demanding Israel protect Palestinian journalists in Gaza, grant foreign press access, and evacuate injured journalists. At least 220 journalists have been killed in under two years, making it the deadliest period for journalists globally. Israel calls the appeal biased, claiming the media spreads Hamas propaganda. However, studies show Israeli attacks have killed more journalists than several major wars combined. The Committee to Protect Journalists accuses Israel of a deliberate effort to silence the press, citing instances where journalists were killed without credible evidence of affiliation with militant groups. The lack of independent access to Gaza, controlled by the Israeli military, further exacerbates the situation, highlighting the urgent need for international intervention.
