Turkey has completely cut off trade with Israel, closing its airspace to Israeli government planes and any cargo carrying arms for the Israeli military. Ports are also closed to maritime trade between third countries and Israel. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the move, escalating existing tensions. This action follows a May 2024 ban on direct trade and reflects Turkey's strong condemnation of Israeli actions in Gaza. The 2023 trade between the two countries totaled $7 billion.
