The New York Giants released quarterback Tommy DeVito, hoping to add him to their practice squad. However, the New England Patriots claimed him for their 53-man roster. Giants GM Joe Schoen wasn't surprised another team wanted DeVito, despite having three quarterbacks already. DeVito impressed the Patriots in the preseason, throwing for 198 yards and three touchdowns. While the Giants wanted him back, DeVito's strong performance secured him a spot on the Patriots' active roster.
