Rwanda-US migrant deal's first group of deportees arrive, says spokesperson

Rwanda has received its first seven migrants deported from the US, the initial group of 250 expected under a deal with the Trump administration. The Rwandan government assures these individuals will receive support and protection. While some will remain in Rwanda, others have chosen to return home. This deportation plan, part of a larger US initiative to remove undocumented migrants, has drawn criticism from human rights groups concerned about potential abuses. Rwanda's history of displacement and existing refugee resettlement programs inform its participation in this agreement, although questions remain about financial aspects and the long-term implications.
