Robot Bunnies vs. Pythons: Will This Work? | JQJO

Florida's Everglades are overrun with invasive Burmese pythons, decimating native wildlife. To combat this, researchers have deployed 120 robotic rabbits. These solar-powered devices mimic real rabbits, attracting pythons for removal. The $4,000 robots are part of a larger effort to control the python population, which numbers in the tens of thousands, possibly even reaching 300,000. While initial results are promising, more time is needed to assess the project's overall effectiveness. Various methods, including python challenges with cash prizes, are already in place.
