Venezuela deploys warships, drones after U.S. sends guided-missile destroyers to region

The US has sent warships and Marines to Venezuela to combat drug cartels, leading to increased tensions. Venezuela responded by deploying its own warships and drones, and is bolstering its military presence along the border with Colombia. While the US accuses President Maduro of leading a drug cartel, and has offered a large reward for his capture, analysts downplay the likelihood of a US invasion. Both countries are engaging in a show of force, with Venezuela claiming to actively fight drug trafficking and the US focusing on disrupting the operations of powerful drug gangs.
