Florida's transportation department repeatedly painted over a rainbow crosswalk in Orlando, a Pulse nightclub shooting memorial. The department cited safety regulations and a policy update prohibiting non-uniform pavement markings. Protesters repeatedly re-chalked the crosswalk, leading to a standoff with authorities. The department's actions sparked outrage, with critics viewing it as an attempt to erase LGBTQ+ presence. Further protests are planned across Florida.
