U.S. and Canada militaries medevac 52-year-old woman, 99-year-old man from cruise ship near border

Two cruise passengers, a 52-year-old woman and a 99-year-old man, aboard the Ruby Princess cruise ship, experienced separate medical emergencies 145 nautical miles west of Cape Flattery. The woman suffered cardiac arrest, and the man had a complete esophageal obstruction. The US Coast Guard, in a coordinated effort with Canadian forces, conducted a joint rescue operation, airlifting both passengers to hospitals. One passenger was flown to a Washington hospital, while the other was taken to a Canadian hospital. This operation highlights the Coast Guard's ability to respond swiftly to medical emergencies at sea.
