US and Canadian forces (NORAD) intercepted Russian aircraft near Alaska for the third time this week. F-16 fighters, along with other support aircraft, visually identified a Russian Il-20 surveillance plane in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The Russian aircraft stayed in international airspace and posed no immediate threat, according to NORAD. These interceptions are reportedly common occurrences.
