Risk of colon cancer slashed by eating specific types of vegetables, study finds

New research suggests eating more broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables (like cauliflower and kale) can significantly lower your risk of colon cancer. A meta-analysis of 17 studies involving nearly 640,000 participants showed that those consuming the most cruciferous vegetables had a 17% lower risk. About 20 grams daily showed a significant decrease in risk. While the study had limitations (mostly focusing on North America and Asia), experts like Dr. Marc Siegel support the findings, recommending a diet rich in these vegetables, citing their fiber, antioxidants, and glucosinolates. Colon cancer is a serious global health concern, making this research particularly relevant.
