Keurig Dr Pepper is buying the Dutch coffee and tea company JDE Peet's for about $18 billion. This aims to boost Keurig's struggling U.S. coffee sales, which have seen a decline in single-serve pods and coffee makers. The deal offers a 33% premium per share. After the acquisition, Keurig Dr Pepper plans to split into two separate publicly traded companies: one for beverages and one for coffee, each expected to generate billions in annual sales. The coffee company will be led by Keurig Dr Pepper's current CFO.
