Canada lifted many retaliatory tariffs on US goods, starting September 1st. These tariffs, imposed in March at 25% on various products, were a response to US tariffs on steel and aluminum. However, tariffs on US autos, steel, and aluminum remain. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney believes Canada has the best trade deal with the US. The White House considers this move "long overdue" and wants to continue discussions.
