Experts discover Covid triggers condition linked to dementia - and one group is most at risk

A new study reveals that even mild COVID-19 can accelerate blood vessel aging by up to five years, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and dementia. The research, involving 2,390 individuals, found this effect to be particularly pronounced in women. Vaccination was associated with less arterial stiffness. Researchers suggest the virus's interaction with blood vessel cells and the body's immune response may contribute to this vascular aging. Lifestyle changes and medication can mitigate the effects.
